‘data.anatomy [civic]‘ is a new audiovisual installation by Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda, arising from a unique collaboration with Mitsuru Kariya, the development leader of the new Honda Civic car. Exhibited as a 3-screen video projection, the work immerses the viewer in an intricate yet vast audiovisual composition derived from the entire data set of the car. ~ [MUMA (Kraftwerk) Berlin on April 19th 2012]

Voyager missions. I downloaded a large amount of raw images to create the video.

They’re abstracted hands, ears, and faces similar to Max’s ‘positive mutation’ visuals, tying minimalist looks with abstracted shapes. Japanese artist, born in 1978. Kurokawa’s works take on multiple forms such as installation works, recordings, and concert pieces. He composes the time sculpture with the field recordings and the digital generated structures, and reconstructs architecturally the audiovisual phenomenon. In recent years, his works were shown at international festivals and museums including Tate Modern, Venice Biennale, Transmediale, and Sonar. In 2010, he was also awarded the Golden Nica at Prix Ars Electronica. – [bio]

Paul Nicholls (UK) lives and works in London. He trained in architecture at both Oxford Brookes and the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, and animation, He has worked for many of London’s top and emerging architecture studios including Glenn Howells Architects and Allies and Morrison. He has recently founded the creative film / animation and synthetic architecture company called Factory Fifteen.

The project also looked at representation of spaces. Collage and re-representation in 3d were also used…
