‘A Room with a view’ is a series of images made in hotel rooms of different cities. The photographs are shot from the hotel room window to the city. The photography process is analogue with no digital manipulation. Each image is the result of a complex, unique and “realistic” composition. These specific points of view have several layers of information: the urban landscape fuses with the reflection of the interior, creating images that mix and condense personal objects, memories and a possible narrative. They explore the individual experience, intimate and private within the global contemporary metropolis and it’s reflection into the complex, spatial conditions and dynamics of cities spread across the globe.

Puddle thinking

Imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, “This is an interesting world I find myself in, an interesting hole I find myself in, fits me rather neatly, doesn't it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!”

This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, it's still frantically hanging on to the notion that everything’s going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise.

I think this may be something we need to be on the watch out for.

very impressive photos with window reflections, so complex and well executed! these images could be taken as an excellent illustration of the chaotic contemporary urban life, where the sparse living space is often causing a problem for individual privacy.
