“Haus de Frau 1″ & “Haus der Frau 2″ are actually displays to present textiles, these works are based on the collaboration between Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich during the 20′s and 30′s. “Deutsches Volk – deutsche Arbeit” was also designed by Mies van der Rohe & Lilly Reich for an exhibtion to promote German glass.
Goshka Macuga merges the roles of collector, curator and artist, creating carefully staged, mixed-media installations which draw on the conventions of the historical archive and exhibition making. In a form of collaboration with artists, both past and present, her dramatic environments juxtapose disparate collections of objects: archive material, film, sound, her own works and works by other artists. Ignoring traditional hierarchies of display, she creates a freedom to suggest new narratives and relationships; between artists, objects and the museum. [Extract : Tate Britain]
